When the devil tells the truth

Wooww! it's been more than a year that i dropped something here. i have been busy doing some other stuffs ni jare... lol! Here is a piece for y'all... I pray you get the understanding....

The devil is a liar! - This phrase has turn to a kind of a daily or normal confession we normally say to ourselves and all others who cares to listen. The devil as we all know has been an enemy of God even before time began.
What exactly is this writer thinking, what is on his mind? how can the devil tell the truth? So very much Impossible! (it seems am reading somebody’s mind already). Shall we set the ball rolling!
The first appearance of the devil in the bible was in Gen.3 (We all know this story), fast forward to verse 5-6: And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. Let us ponder on this my dear friend: And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die... these are the exact words of the devil/serpent to the woman. He said Ye shall not SURELY die, of course that was the truth, they did not surely die (at least as at that moment), Adam still lived 930 years before eventually dying.
Furthermore, he said to them For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. I want us to ponder on the benefits the devil highlighted: then your eyes shall be opened, this was the first benefit of eating this fruit, and that was the first thing that happened to them after eating the fruit: And the eyes of them both were opened (Vs. 7). Secondly He told her,  ...ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil... this truth was established by God himself And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil (Gen. 3:22a). The devil is definitely sure of what he is saying here, all his predictions were actually true. Hmmmn! the truth-telling devil.
With the above analysis, we can indeed see that the devil is not always a liar. There are usually some if not most times when the devil tells the truth.
Fast forward to the new testament: And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungered. And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. (Matt. 4:2-3). I believe we all know this story, Jesus had fasted for forty days and forty nights and he was hungry which is usual. The devil came around, and he said:...If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. What a great idea, Jesus was hungry but He was in the wilderness and there was no food store anywhere near. So, turning stone to bread was not entirely a bad idea or what is the difference between turning stones to bread and turning water to wine, ponder!
Not only did he suggest food to Jesus, he even asked Him to prove if He was indeed the Son of God. Jesus could have turned those stones to bread without even blinking His eyes. But surprisingly He refused!
Again He continued: Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in [their] hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. (Matt.4:5-6). Here we are again, the devil was even quoting a scripture (Ps. 91:11) which is so true!
From these few examples, we can see that the devil can indeed tell the truth. But one thing I have come to notice is that no matter how truthful what the devil is saying might be, it always have one motive - DECEIT! He deceived Adam and Eve with the truth, and this made them loose their place in the plans of God. He tried the same with Jesus but He failed woefully.
Friend, there are indeed some things that seem true but are indeed full of deceit and all these so called truths only take us farther away from God. Apostle Paul said: We are allowed to do anything," so they say. That is true, but not everything is good. "We are allowed to do anything"---but not everything is helpful. 1Cor. 10:23 (GNB).
There are some advices we get from people which are true but are wrong. It is true you might pass an exam by cheating or sleeping with the lecturer, you might get rich if you get involved in fraud or even money rituals, but all these so called truths are meant to make us loose our place with God.
Sometimes, the devil pushes us to a tight corner by blackmailing us into trying to prove a point. He told Jesus to prove if He was the Son of God, what a provoking thing to do. Jesus had a better understanding of the fact that He has no point to prove, most especially for the devil. Rather He used the word of God to reply every of his tempting words. This is just showing us that for us to combat the devil and his so called deceitful truths; we need to be an embodiment of the word of God.
We can now see that the devil might not be a liar all the time, as we have seen a few instances which he actually was telling the truth. Don’t be fooled my friend, that buddy of yours that is always advising you might just be a devil telling the truth. Know this, no matter how true something might be, in as much as it is against the will and word of God, avoid and rebuke it!

Be wary of deceitful truths, they kill. They make sense when you hear them, but they destroy. Remember, we are here now because our mother (Eve) decided to believe the devil’s truth. Beware!

The Generation of FEAR

Fear! what a feeling. Fear is a feeling that comes along with insecurity and doubt. One is only afraid when one has the feeling that something bad is about to happen, not only that, we also experience fear when we don't have a clue of what is going to happen to us next. My little oxford dictionary defines fear as “an unpleasant emotion caused by the treat of danger, pain or harm. This definition shows clearly that wherever there is fear, pain, danger or harm is just a few stops ahead.
Fear had deprived many people of reaching their destinies, it has robbed thousands of their manifestations, and it has hindered so many from reaching their promise land. Fear; a feeling that has conquered many, a feeling that has subdued champions, an emotion that has enslaved a lot of people who were destined to be generation chain breakers.
The great question is where did this fear start off from? Because I can’t remember what day of the whole creation exercise was used to create this killer - fear. How then did this monster come into existence?, one thing I am very sure of is that God, in the process of creating man did not at any point impart man with this ugly spirit of fear, listen to the words of Apostle Paul: For God has not given us the spirit of fear...2Tim1:7. Now, if God didn’t give us this spirit, how then did we get it?.
The exhibition and manifestation of fear is the state of being afraid. The first manifestation of fear - “And he said,  I heard thy voice in the garden and I was AFRAID...Gen.3:10. He heard His voice and he was afraid, there I began to wonder; this so called voice is a voice that this man is very familiar with. He had heard the voice countless number of times, he had replied the voice many times, this a voice that he usually plays and gist with. Now, where is all of this concept of being afraid at the sound of that same familiar voice, what exactly went wrong?
The man actually gave an excuse of why he was afraid:...because I was naked, and I hid myself ...Gen.3:10. Naked!?, definitely something has gone wrong somewhere because he had been in that state of nakedness right from day one: and they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed...Gen.2:25  so, for me that is not a tenable excuse. There God knew that something had crept in, something that was not there before had now gained entrance, there He posed the question straight: God said, “Who told you you were naked? Did you eat from the tree I told you not to eat from?. God already has the understanding of what the consequences of eating that fruit will be. There you have it folks, we all inherited fear from our fore father Adam, an attribute he got from disobeying God’s instruction. We all inherited the spirit of fear through SIN and in as much as we remain the descendants of Adam; fear is part of our genetic makeup.
That is why it’s not surprising these days as we see ourselves getting scared of things that are not worth it. We are always afraid of almost everything. Fear has now become a part of our lives, even the so called strong, powerful and stone hearted people are still afraid of one thing or the other.
Some of us are so much engulfed in fear that we are so afraid to do things we could have done with ease. We are all conversant with the story of this man who said: and I was afraid, and went to hide thy talent in the earth...Matt.25:25. We all know the story, from this story I got to discover that fear also clouds a man’s sense of reasoning, it affects our decision making. Imagine that servant all in the name of fear decided not to trade with his master’s money and we all know the punishment and consequences of his fear.
Where is the place of refuge from this hydra-headed monster? Who shall save us from this killer?. There is only one way out, the sole route of escape from the killer – fear. Since fear is only an attribute of Adam and his descendants and in as much as you are still an Adamian or Adamite, you and fear will still remain best of buddies. God had raised up another Man like himself who is to raise a generation that will be  without fear, a confident generation, a generation that can stand before God .A Man whose descendants will destroy and erase fear from the face of the universe, a Man through whom we will all be brought back to God, the Man Jesus Christ.
Jesus has come to reconcile us back to the father; He has come to destroy the works of the devil (including fear). He is here to deliver us from the bondage of fear, He is offering us adoption into God’s family...For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. Rom.8:15.
In our everyday life, we are usually faced with situations that may want to  warrant our fear, but in situations like that you don't have to worry because Jesus has already provided the saving grace for that situation, listen to what He said: These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. John.16:33.
My friend, whatever the situation may be, never give in to fear. Repent from and forsake your sins, follow Jesus diligently because He is the one that can bring you out from the generation of fear.
Always remember; you are too big to be afraid of anything or anybody. You are a child of God, so, FEAR NOT!
ENJOY!

The Man In The Mirror

A glance into our various lives, a peep into what we are normally faced with in our everyday life; the challenges, the horrors, the problems, the turbulence, the inconsistency of good happenings, consistent heart breaks, injustice and corruption fill the air. Disorderliness and selfishness is now the order of the day. At this point, this writer has no other choice than to admit the fact that our world today is in a level of dismal-pisma (only God knows what that means).
Brothers now rising up against each other, parents sacrificing the joys of their children in order to attain a particular position or it might even be to get a juicy government contract. Hmmn... all we do now is sigh, because we are growing tired by the hour, our resilience is becoming weaker, our fathers’ words of encouragement has started to loose  its effect on us. Now, I wonder for how long will we wait, this dark tunnel journey is taking too much time that we have started losing hope if we will get to the end of it, talk less of beholding the light.
Horrible and unpleasant news now serve as our alarms which wake us up every morning. It is either the war in Mali, or a Church or School getting bombed in the northern parts of our country, terrorists invading and disrupting the peace of the nation, our leaders looting our treasury doesn’t even sound like news nowadays because we are already used to all of  the big figures they spend.
Our global image is nothing to write home about. We are even treated as criminals on the global scene. What happened to us, the self acclaimed giants of Africa. A giant who could not even match the achievements of a dwarf. Oh! what a shame.
In the past years, we all have our ways of consoling ourselves. The church used to be an avenue of consolation. The church, a place where one will hear the mind and the undiluted word of God, but, it is a pity tody as it seems that the church herself has started losing its taste. The joy of getting God’s heart every time we gather in church is no longer there, all we do now is replace that joy with a session of jamboree where all we do is just to sing, shout and dance away our sorrows. The church this day has now been turned to an alcoholic drink which only makes one to forget his/her sorrow for a short period of time.
Now, where is the place of refuge? where shall we hide ourselves from this rottenness? or is it who shall save us from these problems? Plenty of questions with no answers in sight. The political leaders have failed us times without number, the church has started losing her taste, yet we scream everyday we need a revolution, we need a change.
Where will this change come from, who will spearhead the revolution. Who will go for us, who are those that will stand in gap for their country, their continent and their generation. Revolution is a topic that various people most especially political and economic experts had talked about. Many models had been presented, many seminars, but with all of these things we still have no solution in sight yet. What a pity!
After all of these thoughts, I figured out what we need to do, how we need to go about our quest for revolution. We need a change, am I stating the obvious? yes! a change, a long lasting one. Below is a chorus part of a song that was performed in the movie: A Joyful Noise:
I am starting with the man in the mirror,
I am asking him to change his ways,
and no message could have been any clearer,
if you wanna make the world a better place,
then take a look at yourself and then make a change.
The lines of that song struck a chord in me. There and then I thought about it, the change we have all been clamoring for, the revolution we all wanted is here. There is only one person that needs to be changed, just one person.
Why don't we make that move to change that person, the man in the mirror. Let the change begin from your room, take a look at your mirror, change the man in it. That change must start with you.
Change that orientation that you have in you. Change your motive of doing things, change your heart of steel that doesn't care about the feelings of others, change that mentality of looting government treasury once you get there, start caring about people, swallow your pride, esteem other people around you. These and a whole lot of changes are to be carried out in the life of that person in the mirror - you.
Remember the likes of Saddam Hussein, Osama Bin Laden, Gadhafi, Hitler, Abdul-mutallab, Gen. Sanni Abacha; they were at some point as young as we are now, if only they had made that paramount change, the world definitely would have been one of the best places to be.
This much needed and anticipated change is to start with us. We really need to place ourselves before the mirrors of life, goodwill, plain heart, pure spirit, love, care, service, selflessness etc. What are our ratings from these various mirrors...are we that perfect or we are just unconscious of the log of wood in our eyes while we busy ourselves with the speck of dust in the eyes of others.
Before you continue the clamor for change from others, before you start going about ranting about what an evil world we live in, why not take a time out to look into your mirror. Instill a better change in that figure’s life first. The change is here, you are the one hindering it - Change the man in your mirror for the better and this world will be a better place for each and every one of us.

The Way We Are {RELOADED}

What's up people, its been quite a long time since I dropped anything on this blog. I just got carried away with some some other stuffs, but here we are again. I remember dropping the article "The Way We Are" a couple of months ago (Read the article HEREhere is a re edited, repackaged and reloaded version of it... ENJOY

Trust is a word that carries little or no importance in our contemporary world these days. Have you ever wondered why you find it so hard to trust anybody, even your family members and your so called Christian brothers and sisters? You are never at ease watching them handle your business or even leaving your spouse with them...Did I just hear somebody say "trust no man"...are you now making me to understand that your so called Christian brothers and sisters also fall into that category of "no man". Are they all that bad?, are they all that harmful or dangerous to relate with?...Lets go into the Bible....The Scriptures says: Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled. Titus 1:15(KJV)...So, with that don't you think that your inability to trust "NOBODY" or regarding everybody as a sinner is due to the state of your own heart and conscience or what do you think ?

Let's take that text from other Versions of the Bible which says: To the pure [in heart and conscience] all things are pure, but to the defiled and corrupt and unbelieving nothing is pure; their very minds and consciences are defiled and pollutedTitus 1:15(AMP)...Here is another that says: Everything is clean to the clean-minded; nothing is clean to the dirty minded believers. They leave their dirty fingerprints on every thought and act. Titus 1:15(MSG).

Now, let's ask ourselves why do we classify everything anybody tells us as a lie? Hope it's not because we too are "potential liars”? Abi? Why will you just wave off what somebody tells you as a lie and of which you were not present at the scene of the incident and you can’t give an account of what really transpired, yet you tag an eye witness a liar that only shows us that you too would not have told the truth in that circumstance.
Why are married couples suspicious of almost every move their spouse makes?. They are always on the look out for every call, message and mails that comes their partner’s way. Hope it's not due to the fact that spouses like that have skeletons in their cupboards, or why would one just conclude that his or her spouse was cheating on him/her just because he/she came late from work just for one day. Hmmmn, O ma ga ooooo.

In our day to day life nowadays, we just make some judgements that are baseless and proof less or why do we tag every accountant a thief and every lawyer a liar? Abi? Hope it's not because we ourselves can’t be in charge of money without stealing some into our pockets and bank accounts. You heard your friend made a first class result and you jumped into the conclusion that he/she must have cheated or bought his/her way through. This clearly shows that you are invariably insinuating that you yourself cannot make a first class without cheating.

Writing this article reminds me of a saying I had stumbled on a few years ago, the adage (which I can’t quote verbatim now) says something about people who are judgemental normally judge people based on who they themselves are. This means that all you think about people is actually what you are. So you think somebody who you have never for once caught stealing is a thief, then that means you yourself are a robber. Once you see a guy and a lady being close friends and all you do is to start telling everybody that they are dating or something not right is going on between them, my dear friend, all you are telling the world is that you are emotionally weak and you cant handle being close friends with the opposite sex, Simple!

Our pastors and ministers are not even excused from our judgemental hearts and condemning tongues. We make lots of unfounded and baseless accusations, allegations and insinuations against them. Once a pastor buys a new suit, you start having a feeling that he has started stealing the church’s money. The ministry is booming and all you can think about is that the pastor is using juju. We now attach little or no importance to the words of our ministers, most especially the testimonies they share during their preachings which we now classify as exaggerated fables.

What a life! Now, we feel we alone are the most holy and righteous being living on the face of the earth, every other person is a sinner. My dear friend, why don’t you take cue from Jesus who never condemned anyone because that was not the reason of His appearance John3:17... how about the adulterous woman John8:7. Let us stop being pharisees and sadducees Let us stop the accusing fingers, let us learn to live in peace with much love and much more trust for each other..No wonder; fraudulent Businessmen find it hard to trust every other businessman, armed robbers and hired assassins trust NOBODY, adulterous and unfaithful spouses grow suspicious about every move their spouse make...We too, hope we don't distrust and condemn people because we feel they are just exactly the way we are...
ENJOY...
