Seriously I am burning inside me with so much excitement and Joy, a feeling that cannot really be expressed in words or terms, it is a feeling that cannot be explained by the language(s) of this Earth… only HIM (My Father, my Friend, My MAN – JESUS) that can explain (TONGUES).
I just stumbled on a verse and it has been a source of a divine Joy and excitement (TONGUES). ..
“And the Angel of Jehovah appeared to him in a flame of fire, out of the midst of a thorn bush. And he looked. And behold! THE THORN BUSH BURNED WITH FIRE! AND THE THORN BUSH WAS NOT BURNED UP” Gen. 3:2.
Wow! Jesus! This is it, the greatest channel of Evangelism, the greatest mode of passing message(s) across. THE THORN BUSH BURNED WITH FIRE! AND THE THORN BUSH WAS NOT BURNED UP” check out that wonderful expression, even the bush burned, still it wasn’t consumed. Now I ponder, what is the significance of the bush, the fire and the non-consumption of the bush?
The next verse of that scripture gave me my answer which has since yesterday caused a thorough spark in my spirit…..
“And Moses said, I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the thorn bush is not burned up” Gen.3:3
This is it! The bush didn’t just burn and not consume just for the fun of it, hell no! there is a reason, a purpose and that purpose was to attract attention, it was to drag somebody to HIS presence. The bush burned and it was not consumed. What a mystery! Moses saw the sight and that made him halt in his tracks… I must see this, I must get closer to this, this is different, and this is unexplainable, whole lots of thoughts must have been going through Moses’ mind.
After his attention has been secured, God swung into the next line of action…
And Jehovah saw that he had turned aside to see. God called to him out of the midst of the thorn bush, and said, Moses! Moses! And he said, Here I am. Gen. 3:4
The sight was not just meant to be seen, it was not just meant to display its awesomeness but rather it was to be used as a medium of attraction for one of the greatest ministries of all time. The sight brought Moses to destiny; He brought Moses to an encounter with his MAKER who in turn has a great ministry, responsibility and future which is far greater than his (Moses’) current meagre shepherd state. I believe the story from this point is very much familiar.
Now back to the issue of this ‘burning’ but not consumed ‘bush’. There I got an understanding; every Christian is supposed to be a burning bush at various points. We are supposed to radiate the power, the presence and most importantly the HOLINESS of God. There are a whole lot of things that are supposed to be either dangerous, risky or even senseless, but for us as Christians, these things are expedient and necessary. These things will burn us but will not consume us; rather they will purify, edify and make us shine the more. We are to be a point of attraction, an invitation, something that will catch people’s attention and make them want to come close and see.
Even though the burnings are so intense and obvious, yet we will not be consumed and through this our life will be as a source of attraction, a sight that is worthy to wait and behold.
Come to think of it, the bush was burning, Moses waited to see and God gave him his destiny, call and ministry. Our lives too can take this dimension, our life can be that rallying point where people wait to see and in the course of seeing, they come in contact with God who in turn calls them and hand over to them their ultimate destiny.
But how will people look? What will catch their attention? Lets check that common scripture that talks about salvation.
So that if any one is in Christ, that one is a new creature; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.2Cor. 5:17.
There you have it, in as much as you are in Christ, then you are a new creature, now there is a factor that testifies to your status of being a new creature and that factor is BEHOLD. Moses too waited to look and he said behold! The bush was not consumed (Gen.3:2b). My dictionary puts the meaning of behold to be: see or observe thoroughly. Now this is it, as much as we claim to be Christians, as much as we claim to be born again, is there anything awesome about our lives if it is been beheld. Is our life that burning enough to cause a sojourner in this world to stop in his tracks just to see and to observe our lives thoroughly.
Moses had to stop because he saw something unusual he saw a great sight. God is interested in making our lives a burning bush, a life that will cause a great sight, a life through which people in the cause of watching will come in contact with their creator and destiny. Are you ready to become that life?
To become a burning bush, you must believe, trust and have faith totally in God. Trust him that even though that fire will burn you, yet it wont consume you neither will it have any ill effect on you.
There is a whole lot of stuff that we need to do away with as Christians, but we are so much finding it difficult to do because we believe it will be hard to live without them. The fire of being lonely after quitting that ungodly relationship will burn you but it won’t consume you, it will rather turn you into a great sight leaving people to wonder how you have been able to survive that situation which a normal human being thought should have consumed you. Forget the idea of you being broke after stopping those fraudulent acts of yours, hell no! the fire will burn but you will never be consumed.
Friend, all we need to do is to hand it all over our lives unto HIM that he may make it a great sight, a sight that will catch people’s attention, a sight that will make people stop and wait to see, a sight that will bring people to come in contact with their Creator, destiny and ministry. Burn my friends…. Burn!
