DISCERNMENT: SEEING THE INVISIBLE. – 1Cor. 12:10

                I just bumped into this article in my room without any idea of who wrote it or how it got there. The article bore no name, I couldn’t even place the handwriting, and all I just saw was a kind of note written on a full scalp sheet. I fell in love with the article at the first read, there and then I thought about sharing the article on this Blog.

Our society today depicts or shows a false translation of darkness to light. Even the Bible reported in 2Cor. 11:14 that the Devil has disguised himself as an angel of light, what an irony! The devil, the father of darkness, transforming himself to an ‘Angel of Light’ has been the actual reason for the fall and destruction of many of God’s children.

If it is right to liken discernment to having knowledge about something, then the Bible is absolutely right when it said “My people perish because of their lack of knowledge”. Various flaws that were recorded in the scriptures were as a result of lack of discernment (Knowledge, Understanding, Insight etc.).

This must be the reason why DISCERNMENT is included among the 9 gifts of the Holy Spirit as recorded in 1Cor. 12: 4-10. Our ability to see beyond the physical, understand beyond the said and hear beyond what was spoken is essential if we must survive and be of relevance to the Church, our world and operation. When Jesus sent the disciples out for evangelism, He warned them to be careful as serpents and wise as doves because He knows there are wolves in sheep clothing. Only the gift or ability to discern can expose such deception.

Ministers parade themselves as God sent. Ministers proclaim their origin is God. Deception has swallowed the world knee deep and the Church neck deep. Discernment is the way out. The ability to see beyond what is visible is our sure way out of prevailing deception.

I stand to be corrected with this statement: “only few people are truly led by the Spirit of God and those few are always able to discern the truth from every deception”. It is impossible to be led by the Spirit and still fall for a deception. It is impossible to say you are a son of God without being led daily by His Spirit. For as many that are led by God’s Spirit, they are the sons of God.

The way we are

    Have you ever wondered why you find it so hard to trust anybody, even your family members and your so called Christian brothers and sisters? You are never at ease watching them handle your business or even leaving your spouse with them...Did I just hear somebody say "trust no man"...are you now making me to understand that your so called Christian brothers and sisters also fall into that category of "no man". Are they all that bad?, are they all that harmful or dangerous to relate with?...Lets go into the Bible....The Scriptures says: Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled. Titus 1:15(KJV)...So, with that don't you think that your inability to trust "NOBODY" or regarding everybody as a sinner is due to the state of your own heart or conscience, or why do you think that you doubt EVERYBODY including Men of GOD.

    Let’s take that text from other Versions of the Bible which says: To the pure [in heart and conscience] all things are pure, but to the defiled and corrupt and unbelieving nothing is pure; their very minds and consciences are defiled and polluted. Titus 1:15(AMP)...Here is another that says: Everything is clean to the clean-minded; nothing is clean to the dirty minded believers. They leave their dirty fingerprints on every thought and act. Titus 1:15(MSG). Now, let’s ask ourselves why do we classify everything anybody tells us as a lie? Hope it’s not because we too are "potential liars”? Why we always are suspicious of "every" move our spouse makes? Hope it’s not due to the fact that our own conscience too is unclean, why do we tag every Accountant a thief and every Lawyer a liar? Hope it’s not because that exactly what we too would have done if we were to be in their shoes.

    My candid advice: If we are true Christians with clear consciences, I don't really see reasons why we should doubt people unless our "spirit"- the Holy Spirit reveals the truth about the situation to us. I know the question about doubting Men of God will be burning in our hearts - Should we now believe what every Pastor or Reverend Dick, Tom and Harry tells us? due to the fact that there are various 'MEN of GOD" out there now, my take on that is quite simple..."Prove ALL things; HOLD fast that which is good".1Thess.5:21...Instead of just waving off every word of the Man of God says, why not TEST and PROVE.

    No wonder; fraudulent Businessmen find it hard to trust every other Businessman, Armed robbers and Hired Assassins trust NOBODY, Adulterous and unfaithful spouses grow suspicious about every move their spouse makes...We too, do we distrust people after testing and proving, or we just condemn them because we feel they too are just exactly the way we are...

Why not save that soul

WHY NOT SAVE THAT SOUL(S)

    The Online media in the past few months, carried various calls for help to save one Nigerian's life or the other. Blogs were filled with pictures of different people (usually before and after) suffering from various kinds of life threatening diseases ranging from cancers to kidney and heart related ailments. These calls for help had so far yielded good results so far as various celebrities in the past days stretched their helping hands to the sick. I am also here today to make another call for help, another call to save a life.

    This is a call out to all well meaning Christians to please come out and save this life, come and save this soul. There are various kinds of people around us who needs our help to survive although I am not writing this to teach us the basics of being our brother's keeper but to open our eyes to see the reality of various people around us who might be wealthy, healthy or they might even be philanthropists but yet are still passing through life threatening situations they themselves might not even be aware of.   
   
    Do you ever feel grief whenever you see a life wasting away? What comes through your mind when you meet a person without the LIFE - JESUS?. Have you ever given it a thought of what will become the the fate of these people in the after life? or are you just contented and satisfied with the fact that these ones will end up in HELL?. That your smoker friend, promiscuous sister, your armed robber neighbor even your father who is a womanizer, your fraudulent boss and all your acquaintances that are yet to be saved - Are you going to leave these ones to die and face eternal damnation?

    Why don't we emulate the various Celebrities who stood up to stretch forth their helping hands to those sick people?.. Why don"t you too contribute to that soul, why don't you take it upon yourself to minister LIFE to that spirit that is on its way to HELL?, why don't you just be the channel to bring people into that LIGHT and LIFE - JESUS.
   
    All your sinner friends, don't you feel there is a divine purpose you must fufil in their lives..., why not save that soul from eternal damnation?, why not rescue that spirit from eternal regret?.

    This is a "Save Our Soul" call made on behalf of those that are yet to be born again. Hope you will yield to that call. Millions die everyday to end up in HELL..., are you really interested in reducing the population of HELL?.., then ARISE, minister JESUS to some one today..., ARISE and save that soul...

    Note this: As the entire world applauded the generous donations of these celebrities..., so, will the entire Heavens applaud you also after you must have tried your best to save that soul.

Do not be Afraid of their faces

DO NOT BE AFRAID OF THEIR FACES.

    There is always this chill and uncomfortable feeling that usually accompanies disrespectful errands anybody tries to send us. There and then, the popular  yoruba adage that says: "If one is sent the errand of a slave, one applies the wisdom of a freeborn to deliver it" - comes to play. Imagine somebody sending abusive messages through you to a person older than you - Imagine that feeling.

    Majority of us today get that same feeling whenever there is a call on us to preach the Gospel most especially to people bigger, richer,  older or more influential than us in life. Most of us now treat the Gospel as aan abusive message we don't wish/want to deliver. But why?

    Christians today carry this inferiority complex and we feel shy most times whenever we are being asked to preach the Gospel. Lets take an example in the Bible: "Then the word of the Lord came to me saying: Before I formed you in your mother's womb I knew you: before you were born I sanctioned you; I ordained you a Prophet to the nations.". Jer.1:4-5...This is the Lord reeling out HIS plans and purpose for the life of the prophet Jeremiah. God was preparing to send him on an important mission but to our greatest surprise Jeremiah gave a shocking excuse: Then said I: Ah Lord God! Behold I cannot speak for I am a YOUTH. Jer.1:6.

    This is it - Another excuse to evade and dodge  the work of The Almighty. First,, it was Moses and His stammerer excuse now, its Jeremiah with his excuse of being a youth which is also synonymous to the majority christians' excuses these days. We Christians most times look down on ourselves, we always feel incapable or not worthy or even too young for any Divine Assignment. But, remember that God has planned our lives before hand as He did with Jeremiah.

    Now, God's response; "But the Lord said to me: "Do not say, 'I am a Youth', for you shall go to all whom I send you, and whatever I command you, you shall speak - DO NOT BE AFRAID OF THEIR FACES, for I am with you to deliver you, says the Lord. Jer. 1:7-8...This is a clear indication that God will never accept any excuse , He will rather provide the Grace and Strength to overcome that our so called weakness(es). In Moses' case, He provided Aaron, but now in Jeremiah's case He gave Him a strong Hope to rely upon - "DO NOT BE AFRAID OF THEIR FACES" - This signifies that He (Jeremiah) will dish out God's message the exact way he had been instructed to do without the fear of anybody.

    Here is another promise for people/youths who had taken it upon themselves to preach the Gospel: Therefore thus says the Lord God of Hosts: "Because you speak the word, behold, I will make my words in your mouth FIRE, and these people wood, and it shall devour the. Jer.5:14...with these promises of God, why not summon that courage, Minister Jesus to everybody you know irrespective of their Status; your unsaved Boss, the rich but unbelieving Honorable on your Street, your Promiscuous Lecturer, Gangster friends, etc...Why not tell these people what God is Saying or had said about them. Forget about their status, age, position and influence, dish out the Gospel to them but remember - DO NOT BE AFRAID OF THEIR FACES..

A TRUE SOLDIER...Urriah the Hitite-2sam.11.
    According to the Hymn ''It pays to serve Jesus''...The last line of the Chorus says: I'll be a true Soldier, I'll die at my post. A true Soldier in our context today is an unknown and usually unsung soldier...Urriah the Hitite.
Urriah was a relatively unknown Soldier in the army of Israel at that time. Why have I classified Urriah who is a relatively unknown soldier to be a true one.
1.    Atrue Soldier will reject enjoyment and comfort even when an higher authority offers Him/her one - 2sam. 11:8-9...
    why? - he had reverence for the ark of God which signifies the presence of God; He reverenced His boss, The army captain, he thought about His colleagues.., Do we really put all these into consideration before we grab that offer to rest, leave or even Sabbatical 2sam.11:10-11
2.    Lie with my wife!, that was not part of what David sent Him to do - David told Him to go into the   House and wash his feet - but He had the consciousness of what could have happened if he went home.
    True Soldiers should be at alert as they should know what the step they are about to take entails, - They should know that they can't just go home without lying with their wives.
3.    Even when a true soldier is supposedly ''drunk'', He still has his senses and he still understand the concepts and the rudiments of the things he should do not even after the kings bottles of wine- a true soldier will still never get carried away - He will never go home.
4.    A true soldier delivers a message exactly as he is sent even though it contained his DEATH SENTENCE - no cross checking, no second thoughts-He delivered the message duly...2sam.11:14-15
5.    A true Soldier will be proud to die in the course of duty/line of duty. 2sam.11:16-17

BENEFITS OF A TRUE SOLDIER
1.    He has a share in the ancestry of Jesus. matt.1:4
2.    His glory/history/story will never be passed to any man...Urriah's name was still attached to Batsheba as the official husband....That will not be taken away from a true soldier.

Peeps as you read this, think about it...are you a true Soldier. will you go to the extreme in line of duty as urriah did.

Prayer Point: Lord, help me not to get carried away in the course of duty.
          help me to stay in duty and even DIE at my post gallantly as a Soldier that I am.

It pays to serve Jesus

Good Morning peeps, how was the night.

Life is one thing the most High Cherished the most, yet He gave it willingly to Man to take charge of. Life is something that is a part of God...God is the only source and origin of life. So, you having life in you is something you should cherish because you are currently a custodian of something very dear and important to God and He is watching out for you, keeping a close Tab on you, He wants to see how you will treat His dearest property - your LIFE - which He had put in your care.

 

Sincerely, Life is Fragile...Handle with Prayer...

 

Is our Life not really ours...That is a Discussion for another day.

The YES that matters....

Life they say is full of ups and downs...but no matter the amount of discouraging things you must have heard, no matter the amount of disappointments you must have experienced, no matter the number of NOs that had been said to your face. My friend, there is only one YES you need to get for everything to fall back into its normal position.

No matter how weird people tag your dream, as it seems like its you against the world...You just go get the YES that matters, the YES of the FATHER, the YES of GOD, once you have that...not even a billion NOs can stop you...You go get the FATHER's YES...then your Future is brighter than the morning sun.
